Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Salma began her musical journey performing and competing in choir, theatre, and a cappella both in school and within her community. In her high school years, she spent every summer at Interlochen Center for the Arts where she fell in love with classical music. She went on to receive her BM in vocal performance at Eastern Michigan University, then moved to southern California to pursue her MM at CSUF. She has participated in masterclasses led by prominent figures such as Frederica Von Stade, Martin Katz, and Marcie Stapp. She has also performed in the Universitas Cantat festival in Poland, the Andrea Bocelli tour in 2017, 2019, and 2021, the San Francisco Conservatory summer voice intensive, and interned with the San Francisco Opera.
Salma has experience teaching both privately and within an ensemble setting. Supported by her classical background, she prioritizes vocal
health and hygiene and incorporates the Alexander Technique and the principles of bel canto singing into her teachings. She focuses on finding the unique voice of each of her students in all genres of music.
